This is a sewing circle where members can bring their cross-stitch, canvas-work, etc. and chat as they sew. While there will be no teaching as such, members will happily help each others with techniques, tips, etc. Please contact us by using the link above for more details.

What we do:
Latch work is a relaxing yarn craft used to create plush rugs, wall hangings, pillows etc.

Painting for Pleasure What we do: This group is suitable for everyone, although a small amount of experience is advisable. It is not a taught class where you all paint the same picture step by step. We work by having a topic and you choose how to interpret it. Members use their choice of medium: watercolours, acrylics, pastels, inks and mixed media for collages. The aim of the class is to help you improve your technique and to discover new methods of working and try new materials whilst having fun. Help is available from myself and other members if you wish. Following our recent Open Day we are now full but if you want to join you can send a message to the U3A email address. If you give some information about your art experience I will acknowledge your request and put you on my waiting list.

What we do:
Saturday afternoon art classes
You will need, A3 watercolour paper, (would be ideal, but bring what you have), watercolour paints and a black fine-line pen, our first session will be art for mindfulness.
This workshop will NOT need any previous artist skills. If you do not have these materials, I can offer artist quality paper and paints for a nominal charge, to cover material costs.
Meeting Area: Abercrave Day: One Saturday afternoon per month.

What we do:
This photography group is about learning more about Photography and how to take better pictures.
The sessions will begin with a short discussion on an aspect of taking a picture, such as composition, lighting, camera settings etc, where the convener will share some of his photographs for discussion.
The second part of the meeting will be an open session to discuss and share (if happy to do so) member’s own photographs.

Watercolour for Beginners To find out more about this Group, Email What we do: This group is not running at the moment. Ten sessions of two hours each, starting in April 2024. It will be a basic introduction to watercolour painting. The session will consist of a ‘leader’ topic and exercise, then continue with practice of the skill under review. Spaces are limited for this course, so the first definite commitments to join will have priority. Meeting Area: Morriston. Day: Wednesday PM. |
