Painting for Pleasure Group

Customers at a Gower coffee shop will soon be able to enjoy an art show while they sip

The art is the work of a local group, Painting for Pleasure. And the walls it will adorn, from 2 April, belong to the Three Cliffs Coffee Shop.

Painting for Pleasure is part of the Swansea U3A, University of the Third Age. It was set up a decade ago by Bishopston resident Mary Lane.

Mary, who started up a U3A branch in Crewe and Nantwich after she retired, was keen to paint and realised there were many retired people interested in painting, needing a little tuition and guidance.

She now gives her help and advice free in line with the spirit of the U3A, for 'people with some experience' in the Swansea area. The group has around 20 members.

The work selected for the Three Cliffs Coffee Shop will show local churches and other Gower locations but without naming them. Viewers are invited to name them and anyone unsure of the location is given directions for getting there.

The display is called Find It and runs over the month of April.

Mary lane said: “We would like to say thank you very much to Jamie Francis of the Three Cliffs Coffee Shop for giving us the opportunity to display our work to the wider public.”
